The "ASSOCIAZIONE MICAELA" is a no-profit organisation constituted on 1999 on iniziative of the Sisters Adorers' Institute disciples of St. Maria Micaela, whose purpose is to unchaine women overpowered to different types of slavery, especially to prostitution.
In Italy, in Bergamo, the first project for women's victims of trafficking began in 1995. On 2002 it was operating in Puglia (South of Italy).
The ASSOCIATION MICAELA provides assistance to women, giving particular attention to disadvantaged, poor, deviant and socially marginalized ones. It takes care of respect of life too.
Regarding anti-trafficking activities the AM manages some shelters for women's victims of trafficking , provides for therapeutic paths and furthers the social and economic integration of victims. The AM promotes actions aimed at prevention, support to women, counselling, legal aid, vocational training for social workers, information and raising public consciousness about the phenomenon. |
