Since 1991, IRENE has been e no-profit organisation committed to the promotion of the European social policies and of equal opportunities. IRENE carries out activities of research, study, information and training, and networking-building within the guidelines and recommendations of the European Union in cooperation with institutional partners and other no-profit organisations. |

The main fields of intervention are: |

Human rights and social inclusion, IRENE promotes actions aimed at preventing and combating trafficking in human beings for sexual exploitation, actions aimed at favouring the social and economic integration of immigrated women as well as anti-discrimination actions |

Equal opportunities and equal participation of women and men in decision making, IRENE carries out its projects in compliance with the European concept of promotion of the principle of gender equality in all policies having a direct impact on life of men and women (gender mainstreaming) |
